NELFUND beneficiaries seeks FUK-SRC intervention over refund delays

Some beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) at the Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, have sought the intervention of Students’ Representative Council (SRC) leadership over the alleged delayed refund of school fees paid by students before receiving NELFUND support.
In a statement obtained by Jewel Post, the students appealed to the SRC leadership to contact the university management about the outstanding refunds.
The students stated that they elected the SRC to represent their interests and engage relevant authorities whenever issues affecting them arise.
“We elected the SRC and trusted them to be our voice and fight for us. And we expect them to speak out now that the school and NELFUND were delaying our refunds,” the statement read.
When contacted, the FUK-SRC president, Comrade Kabir Danyaya, said a network issue with the Remita system caused the challenge.
He disclosed to our correspondent that the school management would resolve the issue within the week.
“I have explained it to them; it is a result of a network problem from Remita. The school management is working to resolve it within this week,” he said.
Jewel Post reports that NELFUND was established in 2024 to provide financial support to qualified Nigerian students for tuition and other fees, charges, and upkeep during their studies in approved tertiary academic institutions and vocational and skills acquisition institutions within Nigeria.
