Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has been commended for creating an enabling environment that has allowed the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project to operate effectively and deliver impactful interventions across the state.

The commendation was given by the ACReSAL Gombe State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, during a two-day step-down training workshop organised for stakeholders in the government’s Girls’ College Doma Gully Erosion Control Project.

The workshop, held at the Resource Centre in Gombe, was themed “Promoting Social Inclusion and Strengthening Climate Resilience in the ACReSAL Project”.

Speaking at the event, Dr Jauro described ACReSAL as an inclusive initiative designed to benefit all segments of society.
He disclosed that the Doma Gully Erosion Control intervention alone is projected to impact about 1.4 million beneficiaries.
He stressed the importance of addressing gender-based violence (GBV), noting that the issue was a key component of training due to its significance for human capital development and social protection.

According to him, this is an area that Governor Yahaya has consistently prioritised throughout his administration.

Dr. Jauro also appreciated the governor’s publicly recognising the gully erosion control project as one of the achievements of his administration.

He assured stakeholders that ACReSAL would continue to expand its activities to ensure greater impact across communities.

The project coordinator also thanked residents for working with the monitoring teams, saying that their support has been crucial for successfully carrying out ACReSAL projects in 67 communities across Gombe State.

In his welcome address, the PC Focal NGO, Dr Danladi Aliyu, praised Governor Yahaya and Dr Jauro for their commitment to grassroots engagement and community development.

Also speaking, the District Head of Bogo, Alhaji Baddi Galadima, and the Chairman of the ACReSAL Community Association, Muhammad Magaji, lauded the transparency and professionalism of ACReSAL staff. They pledged to work closely with stakeholders to protect community members from gender-based violence and ensure the sustainability of project gains.

Participants at the workshop, including Babangida Shuaibu and Maryamu Ali from Sabon Garin Bogo, expressed satisfaction with the training, describing it as timely, informative, and beneficial to their communities.
The training forms part of ACReSAL’s broader efforts to strengthen climate resilience, promote social inclusion, and enhance community participation in environmental sustainability initiatives across Gombe State.
