Civic technology and public accountability platform Tracka has called on the Gombe State Government, the Federal Ministry of Works, and the former chairman of the Nafada Local Government Area, Babangida Adamu Jigawa, to address the road infrastructure deficit affecting some communities in the area.

Tracka, on a post via its official X handle, disclosed that findings from its recent visit to the area revealed that many communities remain without functional access roads, severely hampering transportation, healthcare delivery, and economic activities.

According to the organisation, communities such as Barwo, Tasha and Guduku are not connected by motorable roads, while residents of Jolle, Mada and Njalkam also face similar challenges due to the absence of accessible road networks linking them to Nafada town.

Tracka further noted that communities, including Madaki Lamu, Shaganawa, and Gurajawa, are all equally cut off from neighbouring settlements as a result of poor road infrastructure.

The platform expressed concern that the situation has continued to undermine residents’ access to essential services and opportunities, particularly during the rainy season when many of the affected communities become isolated.

“The lack of access roads has severely limited mobility, market access, healthcare services and other critical infrastructure,” the post stated.

It added that emergency response efforts have become increasingly difficult because roads leading to healthcare facilities are largely impassable, leaving residents vulnerable during medical emergencies.

“The health facilities are not motorable, and because of these conditions, emergency access is extremely difficult. The communities remain cut off and sometimes landlocked when it rains,” Tracka lamented.

The organisation appealed to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Hon. Babangida Adamu Jigawa, the Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency to facilitate the construction of roads connecting the affected communities.

According to Tracka, opening up the rural road network would improve access to healthcare, boost trade and agricultural activities, enhance mobility and accelerate socio-economic development across the area.
