Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), a nationwide women-focused grassroots movement aimed at mobilising support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening women’s participation in national development.
Women leaders, political stakeholders, party officials, and supporters from across the country attended the official launch of the movement in Abuja.
Speaking during the launch, Senator Tinubu urged Nigerian women to pursue higher education, expand their knowledge and skills, and build strong networks capable of driving positive change in their communities and across the nation.
She also called on female politicians, political appointees, and women leaders to mentor younger generations, enhance their leadership capacities, and play active roles in communicating government policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
According to the First Lady, women remain critical stakeholders in nation-building and must continue to support initiatives that promote economic growth, social development, and inclusive governance.
The Tinubu Torchbearers initiative, spearheaded by the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) National Women’s Leader, is designed to serve as a platform for grassroots mobilisation, community engagement, and public awareness of the administration’s achievements and policy reforms.
As part of efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the movement, buses were distributed to party representatives from various geopolitical zones to facilitate outreach activities and improve coordination at the grassroots level. Beneficiaries included representatives serving in states controlled by opposition parties, reflecting the nationwide scope of the initiative.
The organisers said the vehicles would enhance mobility, improve engagement with local communities, and support the movement’s mission of promoting government programmes and fostering greater women’s participation in public affairs.
The launch was an important milestone in expanding women’s involvement in grassroots advocacy and strengthening support structures for the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
