Demolition: Gombe PDP accuse Gov Inuwa of impunity… Carpets LG Councils election

By Danjuma Williams, Gombe

The Gombe State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the demolition of public structures under the guise of violation of land management policies.

Reacting to recent actions of the APC-led state government, the PDP, in a press briefing last Tuesday afternoon, alleged that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration has been ruling the state with impunity and disregard for democratic principles and the Nigerian Constitution.

Addressing newsmen in its office, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, the Public Relation Officer of the party, said the government’s action created a rift between the Governor and the affected people.

It also condemned a viral video clip going round social media where the Governor was making statements it considered not commensurate with his position as Governor.

“We remind Governor Inuwa and the State Government that such vulgar utterance violates the fundamental rights to dignity of the human person as well as the administration of democratic principles of governance”, the party alleged, adding that all citizens of Gombe State deserve protection of their dignity by the Governor as the Chief Executive Officer of the State.

The party also frowned at the recent expulsion of Gombawa Motors from conducting its transport business at the Dankwambo Mega Motor Park over the transport company’s opposition to the APC.

“Members of Gombawa Motors are citizens of Gombe State and have the equal rights to express their political inclination as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution”, Abdulkadir pointed out.

He also stated that, “as tax payers (citizens) who are proudly happy with the construction of the first modern Mega Park in Nigeria, they have the right to utilize the Dankwambo Mega Park without any political intimidation”.

Reacting on the just concluded Local Councils elections, the PDP described the election as a mockery of the sensibilities of the people of Gombe State as the election lacked credibility and transparency.

According to him, “the so-called election which was conducted by GOSIEC, failed in the mobilisation of the opposition parties to participate in the so-called elections”, he alleged.

He explained that as the reason why the PDP boycotted the election and described it as a child’s play where, “ballot boxes were not taken to the polling units. It was a repetition of the kangaroo 2024 Local Government Council elections under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s APC Government in Gombe State”, the PDP’s Publicity Scribe maintained.
